Air Force Space Command Commander

11/20/2009 - PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- This Thanksgiving, Marj and I offer our heartfelt appreciation for your dedication in maintaining the security of our great nation--we have much to be thankful for. We ask that you keep our extended Air Force family and those airmen who are deployed around the world spending the holiday away from their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

As you start the holiday, remember that one-third of all Air Force fatalities occur over long weekends. I must continue to impress upon you the importance of driving when you are at your best. Plan and act responsibly to minimize distractions and fatigue. Heed the lessons of others--don't drink and drive. In the broader context, don't drink in excess, no matter what the circumstance. The unintended consequences can be costly and severe.

Think ahead about the choices you will be making over the weekend. Return safely, rested and recharged. Take care of yourself and look after one another.

Marj and I extend our warmest wishes to you and your families for a wonderful Thanksgiving!
